altech gt-challenge ‘09, round 3

Race report from Kyalami.
by Pierre Martins

30 May, 2009:

PT300509016Round 3 of the local GT Challenge at Kyalami was an absolute blast. Managed to pull two second places and maintain second place in the overall points standings behind class A man, Toby Venter.

Unlike the boring round I had at Zwartkops the actual racing turned out to be fantastic this time. Had a titanic battle with youngster Dillon Miller in a lightweight 2.9 911RS in class E in both heats with many spectators rating it as the dice of the day.

allans_pictures_d80_30-05=2009_134[1] But unfortunately I got pipped to the line twice by Dillon. Little bugger drives well. Some illegal blocking at times, but I wasn't gonna protest. I enjoyed the racing. He's got some awesome on-board footage of me pulling a move on him into the esses by sliding the heavy tank Fat Bully like a kart. I'll see if I can get that off him and post it here.

Fat Bully is going well now, we got the suspension dialled in pretty good and I enjoy sliding the car.

I’ll do a more detailed report if I get around to it. In the meantime you can check out pics from the racing below. Click on the the thumbnails to enlarge and use your browser’s back button to return.

Cheers,
Pierre.
